Q. What is the date I have to start using my new Financial Year's Entry Pass ?
A. Entry Passes are sent to Residents / Ratepayers as part of their Rates package. To allow time for postage the Entry Passes have a crossover date each year. Entry Passes are valid from 1 July until 31 July the following year. You must use your new Entry Pass from 1 August each Financial Year. If you have not received your Entry Pass by 31 July please contact our Customer Relations Officer on 9257 9999.

Q. Do I have to bring my Entry pass when I’m bringing green waste and recycling?
A. Yes. Residents / Ratepayers are required to present their Entry Pass and photo ID (i.e., Driver’s Licence) for all entries to the Walliston Transfer Station. Your Driver’s Licence must show your residential address in the City.  If you are bringing waste for your investment property please bring along proof of ownership, such as your rates notice. 

Q. What happens if I have lost my Entry Pass?
A. Entry Passes can be reissued but a fee may apply. Please contact our Customer Relations Officer on 9257 9999 to order a replacement copy. Entry Passes can be emailed to you or, if you prefer a hard copy, it can be collected at the gatehouse of the Walliston Transfer Station, from the Administration Building at 2 Railway Road, Kalamunda or posted. Please keep a copy of the email or a photo of your hard copy in case you misplace it to save a reissue fee. 

Q. I’m a tenant. Can I use the Walliston Transfer Station?
A. Yes. Tenants are advised to contact their real estate agents or landlords to obtain the Entry Pass for their residence.  If the landlord does not wish to pass on the Entry Pass, you can attend with proof of residency, however a fee will apply.

Q. Can I use the Entry Pass at Red Hill?
A. No. The Entry Pass is valid for the Walliston Transfer Station only.

Q. I bought my property half way through the financial year. Can I have an Entry Pass?
A. Yes. However it will be pro rata entry/ies of one entry for each whole quarter. Please contact our Customer Relations Officer on 9257 9999, or email enquiries@kalamunda.wa.gov.au for further information.

Q. I have been advised that the previous tenants used up their Entry Pass. Can I have another one?
A. Yes.  However each entry pass only allows 4 general waste visits per year. Please contact our Customer Relations Officer on 9257 9999, or email enquiries@kalamunda.wa.gov.au for further information.

Q. I am a resident from another City. I need to visit the Walliston Transfer Station on behalf of  a relative.
A. Please contact our Customer Relations Officer on 9257 9999, or email enquiries@kalamunda.wa.gov.au to discuss your requirements.

Q. I am not a resident of the City. Can I use a relative / friends Entry Pass?
A. No. Walliston Transfer Station is STRICTLY for Residents / Ratepayers of the City of Kalamunda only.

Q. What happens once I have used my four entries?
A. If you have used all four entries, you may purchase additional entries at the Walliston Transfer Station gatehouse (EFTPOS only), online or at the City of Kalamunda’s Administration Building. See Fees & Charges

Residents / Ratepayers are reminded that they also have access to three skip bins per annum. Residents / Ratepayers can contact Cleanaway on 9449 3332 or http://cityofkalamunda.cleanaway.com.au/ to order a skip bin. Please note this link is not compatible with Internet Explorer.

Q. I am a ratepayer, but my Entry Pass only shows one occupant's name?
A. You are still entitled to use the Entry Pass. Your Driver Licence address will need to match the Entry Pass address to gain entry. For enquiries, please contact our Customer Relations Officer on 9257 9999 or email enquiries@kalamunda.wa.gov.au for further information.

Q. I own multiple properties in the City, what do I need to do?
A. You need to ensure that if you are bringing waste from a rental property that you own, you bring the correct Entry Pass for that property. If it is from the property you reside in please bring along your Entry Pass with your driver’s licence.  Generally, tenants should be given the Entry Pass so they can use it whilst occupying the property.

Q. I occupy a Department of Housing property, how do I get my Entry Pass?
A. The City of Kalamunda Waste Services send Entry Passes by post to tenants. For enquiries, please contact our Customer Relations Officer on 9257 9999 or email enquiries@kalamunda.wa.gov.au for further information.

Q. Can I take building rubble to the Walliston Transfer Station?
Yes. The building rubble must be clean and from your property to dispose of it at the Walliston Transfer Station, and this will count as a “limited entry”. 

Building rubble considered to be commercial (i.e., not from your property) will be subject to commercial charges.

Q. What recyclables are free to take to the Walliston Transfer Station?
A. The following recyclables are free and unlimited to take to the Walliston Transfer Station (accompanied by your Entry Pass):

  • clothing and blankets
  • cardboard (with no plastic wrapping) 
  • car batteries
  • colourbond fence panels 
  • dry cell batteries 
  • e-waste (including computers, DVD / CD players, heaters, printers, radios, televisions, vacuums and small electrical) household items
  • fencing wire 
  • fluorescent globes
  • glass bottles only
  • metal of any type including metal pickets (cut to a maximum of 1.5 metre length, width, height and not solid)  
  • motor oil (maximum of 20 litres)
  • paper 
  • polystyrene or styrofoam


Q What if I visit with a mixed load of waste?
A. If you visit the Walliston Transfer Station with a mixed load (e.g., any limited materials plus unlimited materials) you will be required to utilise one of your four entries. You will have the option to unload your unlimited materials and take your limited materials home with you if you do not wish to utilise one of your entries.

Residents / Ratepayers are entitled to a total of four limited entries per annum for the following materials in any combination:

  • air-conditioning ducting 
  • bricks and building rubble (does not include coffee rock) - must be clean with no soil or sand
  • car parts (no bodies) 
  • cement - hard only (no powder)  
  • dvd / cd discs and video tapes
  • fibreglass (cut to a maximum of 1.5 metre length, width, height and not solid) 
  • general household items (includes sofas, bed bases and furniture)
  • glass (including mirrors, glass doors, glassware)
  • gyprock
  • irrigation pipe 
  • limestone 
  • mattresses (includes pillows and cushions)
  • plaster board
  • poly pipe / pvc pipe
  • plastic pot plant containers (or recycle through Claw Environmental)
  • roof insulation 
  • solar panels
  • tyres (fees apply - maximum of 5)
  • timber / wood
  • whitegoods (includes air-conditioners, dishwashers, hot water systems, microwaves, ovens, hotplates, washers, refrigerators and freezers) - these do not need to be degassed as this will be done on-site

Q. Can I visit the Walliston Transfer Station with my truck?
A. If you have a truck with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of less than 3.5 tonnes, you may apply for a Vehicle Permit to enter the Walliston Transfer Station. Vehicle Permit applications can be made via the website. For enquiries, please contact our Customer Relations Officer on 9257 9999 or email enquiries@kalamunda.wa.gov.au for further information.

Q. I need to use my work vehicle to bring non-commercial (household / residential) waste to the Walliston Transfer Station. Is this ok?
A. City of Kalamunda Residents / Ratepayers wishing to access the Walliston Transfer Station to dispose of their residential (non-commercial) waste with their work vehicle will be required to obtain a Vehicle Permit. Vehicle Permit Applications can be done via the website link or a hardcopy can be obtained from the Administration Building, 2 Railway Rd, Kalamunda or from the Walliston Transfer Station.

Q. Do I still get three skip bins?
A. Yes. Residents are still entitled to three skip bins per annum. One additional green waste skip bin is available for properties 2000m2 - 5000m2. Two additional green waste skip bins are available for properties over 5000m2.

Q. Can I swap my skip entitlements for an additional Entry Pass?
A. No. If you have used up all your entries to the Walliston Transfer Station, you may pay an Additional Entry Fee at the gatehouse of the Walliston Transfer Station. Additional Skip Bins can also be purchased by calling 9257 9999. 

Q. Do I have pay to visit the Walliston Transfer Station?
A. Residents / Ratepayers are required to pay in the following instances - please refer to Fees & Charges:

  • To dispose of tyres 
  • If a load is deemed to be commercial in nature (commercial fees apply)
  • If a resident has utilised all four entries for limited materials

Q. What size trailer can I bring to the Walliston Transfer Station?
A. Trailers less than 8ft x 6ft (2.4m x 1.8m) are permitted to dispose of general waste.  Larger trailers are permitted to dispose of green waste only and you must apply for a Vehicle Permit.  Vehicle Permit applications can be done here or a hardcopy can be obtained from the Administration Building located at 2 Railway Road, Kalamunda or from the Walliston Transfer Station entry office.

Q. Do I still need to present my Driver’s Licence upon entry?
A. Yes. Photo ID showing residential address corresponding to the Entry Pass is required upon entry.

Q. If I’ve forgotten my Entry Pass, can I still visit the Walliston Transfer Station?
A. No. Entry Passes are required for free entry to the Walliston Transfer Station.

Q. Can I bring my rates notice instead of my Entry Pass?
A. No. Rates notices are not able to be substituted for an Entry Pass to gain entry to the Walliston Transfer Station.

Q. What if my address on my Drivers Licence doesn’t match my Entry Pass?
A. Residents / Ratepayers will be permitted one entry and advised that they need to update the address on their Driver’s Licence so it reflects their Entry pass to gain further access. If you are an Owner but not occupying the property (i.e. investment property) please advise staff at the gatehouse so they can check your records to verify ownership and bring the correct entry pass for the investment property. Tenants can be given the entry pass to utilise whilst occupying the property.

Q. I own vacant land in the City of Kalamunda. Am I entitled to an Entry pass?
A. No. Entry Passes are issued for properties that are paying a waste charge only and vacant land does not attract a waste charge.  However, you can go to the Transfer Station with your Rates Notice for the Vacant Land and Driver’s licence and dispose of GREEN WASTE ONLY. Entry Fee Applies.
