Green Waste

Green Waste can be disposed of in the following ways:

  • Via the residential Skip Bin Service 
  • Walliston Transfer Station -
    Each resident/ratepayer is given unlimited access to the Walliston Transfer Station for green and recyclable waste. An Entry Pass and Photo ID (e.g. driver’s licence) showing proof of residence is required to use this facility.

Accepted items include

  • green waste
  • palm fronds
  • tree Pruning’s
  • grass clippings
  • tree trunks (diameter no greater than 300mm).

Alternatively, residents can utilise Compost Bins and Worm Cafes. Compost generated can be re-used on gardens.

Why should I Get a Worm Farm?

Since nearly half of all household waste is food scraps and garden waste, composting bins and worm farms provide a great way of not only diverting waste from landfill but creating nutrient rich compost for your garden and vegetable patches. Composting and worm farming aid in soil conditioning and fertilizer production and are great way to educate adults and children alike about the importance of recycling and waste reduction.

Worm Café
The Worm Café is also produced with 100% recycled plastic and contains 4 molded plastic legs to lift the unit off the ground. The Price of the worm café also comes with (500g) of worms to establish your system.

Compost Bins
A variety of models and size are available from most hardware stores (e.g. Bunnings). The City are no longer is stocking the compost bins as it is more cost effective for residents to obtain these from other alternate commercial sources.

A. To order your compost bin or worm café download the application form, fill in the required details and return it to the front counter at the City Administration Building.

A. Within 3-5 working days for Worm Café’s.

Q. Why does the City no longer offer Compost Bins?
The City no longer provides compost bins for sale as there compost bins which are more cost effective available to residents major retailers such as Bunnings.
