The annual commemoration of children born in the City of Kalamunda is held each July. Families will be invited to take part in a community planting day and help revegetate a local park or reserve where their child can play in the future. A plaque with all baby’s names will be installed at the park. Families will receive their own tree to take home for planting, together with a personalised certificate for their children.
2020/2021 RegistrationsCity of Kalamunda residents who have had a baby between May 2020 and April 2021 are invited to register for the City’s annual Commemorative Planting Day to celebrate the birth of their baby.

A bush, evergreen shrub with fragrant flowers during autumn and winter. Thrives in a warm, sunny, frost free position with well drained soil. Colour of the fruit is green and pale lemon/yellow at maturity. The fruit has a distinct lime flavour and a moderate to high acidic level. The flesh at maturity is green and pulpy. Tahitian limes rarely have seeds and are excellent for growing in many areas of Australia.

Part of the proteaceae family, this evergreen shrub is ideal for attracting native birds and insects. Ideal for growing under established trees or in garden beds to supress weeds and is best grown in well drained soil in a sunny, open position. Producing large, cylindrical golden flower-heads in autumn with varying shades of red.

This medium evergreen shrub produces large red brush flowers throughout most of the year. The flowers attract an array of native bird and insects and the flower make excellent cut flowers. This is a well-known and good all-rounder for native and mixed Australian gardens. Grows well in acidic, well-drained soils in full sun or part-shade and are drought tolerant once established.

Olive trees are generally hardy trees with good tolerance to poor soils. The grey-green leaves are thick and leathery. Fruits start green, and turn black when they ripen. Plant grows well with good drainage and cool winters, with hot dry summers without humidity. Prefers a humus rich soil.
